Peter Tolmie was talking about ethnography at yesterday's Ingenuity breakfast event at the Sir Colin Campbell Building in Nottingham. It might sound a bit heavy-going but, in fact, provided some interesting insights into how observing your customers' behaviour can give you a competitive edge through understanding what they actually do and how they really behave, rather than relying on the answers they'd give you if you simply asked.

There's a one-day workshop coming up in the New Year on this and Duncan Shaw's processes for working out who you A, B and C customers are and how to optimise your business offering for them.

Excellent feedback from this morning's Ingenuity Programme: "thought provoking", "creative thinking is important", "I'll certainly continue to attend these sessions", "good on current thinking and future trends" were some of the comments we received.

Take a look at some snippets of the presentations at the Ingenuity group on qik.

We've also had a number of bookings for the future breakfast events and the one-day workshops on Strategic Thinking and Creative Thinking for New Business Ideas - more about these on the Ingenuity Programme events calendar (where you can also book a place for yourself).
